Sept. 13: Some scattered showers and storms this weekend

Weather Authority

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Scattered showers and storms are in the weekend forecast for South Florida, but the trend is toward fewer storms than we’ve seen lately.

Low pressure is trying to organize off the east coast of Florida and will help pull in some drier air, which will act to reduce the rain chances the next several days.

We won’t be completely dry. In fact, any scattered storms could still dump heavy rain totals, but the coverage is shrinking, and the storms will impact fewer of us this weekend.

Nonetheless, keep an eye on the sky, especially if you’re outdoors in an open area this afternoon. Things are quiet in the tropics close to home. There is a 40% chance of development way out in the central Atlantic next week. Have a great weekend!
