King tide peaks on Wednesday in South Florida

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — The king tide flooded streets on Tuesday night in South Florida’s coastal areas amid a supermoon swell, and it was set to peak on Wednesday morning.

The time varies depending on the area, but it will be between 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The saltwater intrusion will impact low-lying roads and property.

There was also a 40% to 30% probability of rain early Wednesday morning that was set to increase to 50% from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The chance of rain was 60% on Thursday and Friday.

Flooding impacted drivers on A1A on Tuesday night. A parking lot was flooded in Hollywood. Authorities asked drivers to avoid flooded roads.

There was a coastal flood advisory in effect through Thursday in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and through 6 a.m. on Wednesday in Monroe County.
