Winter storms to disrupt post-Thanksgiving march home

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Winter weather was set to impact post-Thanksgiving travel this weekend for some around the country.

The National Weather Service warned about heavy lake-effect snow across the Great Lakes region and a major winter storm over the northern Plains.

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms were forecast to affect portions of the southern Plains eastward into the northwest Gulf Coast region.

Snow was set to impact travel on Saturday at airports in Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Minneapolis, and St. Louis.

Rain and storms could impact travel on Sunday in Orlando, Atlanta, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.

The FlightAware Misery Map ranked Dallas Fort Worth International Airport at the highest on Friday night after hundreds of delays.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday were quiet at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and at the Miami International Airport. TSA screeners expected that to change on Saturday and Sunday.
