Feb. 28: Scattered storms, cooler temps ahead

The drought continues, but some welcome news is in our weekend forecast as rain chances increase on Saturday and Sunday. A cold front is on the way and will allow daytime heat and instability to fuel some scattered showers and storms, mainly after 2 p.m. Unfortunately, the coverage will be widely scattered, but some spots — especially the eastern half of Broward and Miami-Dade counties — could see over an inch of rain in isolated stronger storms. Highs will soar into the middle 80s today, then back off a bit to near 80 degrees tomorrow.

Looking at the week ahead, an easterly wind might allow for some scattered showers to move in off the ocean each day, with highs remaining in the lower 80s. There are no other cold fronts in sight through the next seven days.

It’ll be a good beach day on Saturday with no advisories in effect; however, watch for lightning later this afternoon with some of those scattered storms around.
