March 15: Warm, muggy Sunday with passing showers

The front that was stuck over South Florida yesterday has moved away but has left a lot of atmospheric moisture behind. A warm and muggy airmass combined with daytime heating will trigger scattered showers and storms today into the evening with most of these occurring between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

I’m also tracking a disturbance in the central Gulf which could move in during the peak heating of the afternoon creating a slight risk of severe storms. Hail, high winds, and flooding is possible with some of the stronger storms depending on the timing and tack of that Gulf system.

This disturbance moves away with rain chances coming down a bit tonight and tomorrow but another cold front approaching on Tuesday raises the chances for showers and storms again heading into midweek. Highs will be in the 80s today and tomorrow but only in the mid-70s from Tuesday through the rest of the week.
