May 1: First weekend of May starts hot & ends stormy

The first night of May 2026 will be warm and dry for South Florida. As skies remain mostly clear and south winds stir, temperatures are forecast to slip to the mid 70s overnight across Miami-Dade & Broward counties.

Saturday will feature plenty of sun, a south-southwest breeze and hot temperatures. If Miami achieves its forecast high of 93°, it will tie the record high for the date. One other note: heat index values could approach 100°F between 1pm and 4pm.

As a frontal boundary nudges closer to South Florida Sunday, clouds increase and soaking storms are likely to develop, particularly after 2pm. Temperatures are forecast to return near seasonable with highs reaching the mid 80s.
