May 12: Highs in the upper 80s, but heat indices will reach near 100 degrees

It is a warm and humid repeat as morning lows are in the 80s with heat indices in the upper 80s before the sun has even risen. South Florida is on the warm side of a cold front -- you can feel it with the humidity levels so high. Highs will be in the upper 80s but heat indices will reach near 100 degrees. As the frontal boundary approaches the lake region today, scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected this afternoon into early evening. This will help in the fight of the brush fires burning in Broward and Miami-Dade. A few thunderstorms may be strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat, however hail and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. Heavy rainfall may lead to a few instances of urban flooding across the east coast metro. Keep it tuned to Local 10 for more.
