May 16: Heat, humidity and storm chances increase across South Florida next week

A more humid and unsettled weather pattern is developing across South Florida as we head into the first part of next week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Some storms could produce frequent lightning and heavy downpours.

At the same time, heat and humidity will continue building across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties, with heat index values reaching the upper 90s to low 100s. Breezy easterly winds will also increase the rip current risk along Atlantic beaches through the weekend. Looking ahead, tropical moisture lingering near South Florida will keep daily rain and thunderstorm chances elevated through much of next week.
