July 6: Afternoon storms continue before drier air arrives midweek

Another hot and humid day with temperatures in the lower 90s Monday afternoon. Heat indices will remain below heat advisory levels though it will still feel between 105 to 108 degrees. This heat and humidity will help to produce a few downpours along the sea breeze early this afternoon before scattered storms move inland. Storms that develop could produce heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Some of this rain will move towards the coast into the evening, then a clearing sky overnight with lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

An afternoon storm chance will continue into Tuesday before Saharan dust arrives midweek. This dust will not only lower rain chances starting Wednesday but will also bring a slight haze to the sky through Friday. With a lower rain chance, temperatures will climb into the middle 90s by the weekend with even higher heat index values.
