It’s the 18th heat advisory of the year with a heat index briefly up to 105°+ again this afternoon. Saharan dust and dry air will make it tough for storms to develop, but an isolated strong thunderstorm or two is possible. By tomorrow, storms will be closer to the coast and more widespread. Some could be severe Friday with damaging wind gusts, intense lightning and hail. This will be the case into the weekend with plenty of dry time between.
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area in the northeastern Gulf with a 20% chance of development into a tropical depression or tropical storm. The environment will make it difficult to develop, but either way it is more of a rainmaker for the northern half of Florida through the coastal Carolinas.
