Aug. 27: Spotty thunderstorms could contain frequent lighting and gusty winds

South Florida is firmly back into a rainy season pattern with scattered showers and thunderstorms each day.

There will be plenty of dry time in between, but storms could interrupt any outdoor plans at times. Some could be strong with frequent lightning, brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and even some small hail. High temperatures will be in the low 90s with a heat index between 100-105 degrees, which is just below heat advisory criteria.

This pattern will last into the weekend with rounds of showers and thunderstorms. This is a welcomed sight considering the severe to extreme drought that is ongoing.
