Sept. 1: A stormy weather pattern continues in South Florida

The atmosphere above us is locked in with a ton of moisture. This will make it easy for showers and thunderstorms to develop again today. Some could contain frequent lightning and gusty winds. Heavy rain will also be a big feature of the storms this week and pockets of minor flooding will be possible in areas that get 2”+ of rain in a short time. Highest chances will be in the afternoons, but some slow moving storms could develop along the coast early in the evening into the night.

High temperatures are starting out very typical for early September around 90°. There are no major heat waves in the forecast since clouds and persistent thunderstorm activity each day will keep temperatures in check for at least the next week or two.
