Miami man accused of fleeing from deputies on motorcycle in Keys

Deputies say Daniel Perez speeding, driving recklessly with teen passenger

KEY WEST, Fla. ā€“ A Miami man was arrested Wednesday morning in the Florida Keys after he fled from deputies on a motorcycle, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

Daniel Perez, 19, and a 17-year-old girl were spotted by deputies traveling north near mile marker 55. Herrin said Perez was speeding and passing vehicles recklessly on the right shoulder.

Herrin said Perez ignored deputies who tried to stop him, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph.

Perez was eventually taken into custody after a deputy managed to block him in against a guardrail.

The teenage passenger, a student at Marathon High School, was released to her father.

Herrin said Perez had two licenses, neither of which allows him to drive a motorcycle. Perez faces charges of reckless driving, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, driving a motorcycle without the proper endorsement and possession of more than one driver's license.
