MIAMI — Give Miami Day is Thursday and it’s the biggest single-city giving day in the country, according to The Miami Foundation, which puts on the event each year.
The event is now 14 years strong, and tens of millions of dollars are donated to crucial organizations in the South Florida community to keep them going.
Donations can be made until midnight Thursday and you can track how much money has been raised so far by clicking here.
Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, the CEO of The Miami Foundation, says they have more than 1,400 nonprofits to choose from, so find something you’re passionate about supporting and donate whatever you can.
“We’ve been doing this for 14 years and there are so many organizations in our community that step up for us all year-round. They’re educating and mentoring our kids, they’re cleaning our water so it’s safe for us to drink. And we need to step up for them,” Fishman Lipsey said.
According to Fishman Lipsey, The Miami Foundation will match “dollars and prizes and bonuses.”
“And we’re trying to get everybody -- everybody who lives here, whatever your cause is, get out and give,” she said.
