Miami International Auto Show offers hands-on rides, classic cars for enthusiasts

Miami International Auto Show kicks off with test drives, classic cars Buckle up for a fun walk through memory lane — and the future of automobiles at the Miami International Auto Show.

MIAMI — Buckle up for a fun walk through memory lane — and the future of automobiles at the Miami International Auto Show.

Doors open to the public Friday afternoon, but Local 10 got an early look at the show’s highlights.

Attendees can test vehicles on indoor tracks designed to mimic real-world conditions.

“Much of the track has components of a race track. It has curves, a launch area, chicanes,” said Sergio Armenta, track manager of Camp Jeep.

The passenger-seat experiences are also meant to be educational, showing how electric vehicles feel and drive. “You can do a different setting, you got four low, four high,” Armenta added.

Camp Jeep offered visitors the chance to climb steep angles and navigate challenging terrain.

“You’ll hear people screaming but they’ll be fine. All Jeeps have low center gravity, not top heavy, and can handle all the terrain out here,” said Armenta.

The show also features classic and antique cars, some dating back to 1918, along with vehicles from the 1960s, restored to look just like they did decades ago.

For car enthusiasts in South Florida, the show is a chance to see a wide range of vehicles and enjoy a hands-on experience.

“It’s Miami — you never know what you’re gonna see," Armenta added.

Thousands are expected to attend the show at the Miami Beach Convention Center, which runs through Oct. 5.
