Miami Beach hotel offers Halloween murder mystery dinner experience There’s something brewing on Miami Beach, but it’s not your typical dinner party.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — There’s something brewing on Miami Beach, but it’s not your typical dinner party.

The Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel is trading typical Halloween plans for a night of mystery, costumes and cocktails.

Guests can take part in an elaborate murder mystery dinner series, where every attendee has a secret role and a chance to solve the crime.

Victoria Palacio, the hotel’s marketing manager, said the goal is to offer something “fun and different for the holidays” and a way to engage locals.

“We’re always looking for ways to reinvent, and I thought this was a great way to bring in locals and do something different,” she said.

Up to 40 guests can participate in each weekend’s event.

“We do want to keep it intimate, just because everyone has a specific role to play and they are reached out to before the dinner to know what their role is,” Palacio added.

The experience begins upon arrival.

“This is an immersive experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted in theme,” she said.

Guests start with a cocktail hour — but should be careful what they say.

“You don’t want to give away too much because you don’t want to give away your character, especially if you’re the killer,” Palacio said.

Each dinner features a three-course menu inspired by the night’s theme.

Executive Chef Gaston Javier explained the Witches Coven menu.

“Starting off with the Witches Coven we have the summoning curse, which is the Witches Whisper. Our next course is our Midnight Howl at the Moon. And we’re going to finish it off with a Sweet Hex,” he said.

Palacio said the events, held every weekend in October, include other themed nights like Clue and Harry Potter.

“I think it’s the perfect night out on Miami Beach and it’s something different. Nothing on the beach or in Miami has a murder mystery, and it’s in the theme of Halloween, so why not celebrate this way?” she said.
