CORAL GABLES, Fla. — As wellness trends take off online, some of the most exclusive experiences you think are just for professional athletes or Hollywood stars are coming to Miami-Dade County, including at Pause Studio in Coral Gables.
Pause Studio is trying to put all of that in one space and you’ll be surprised at the extremes your body will go through to find that pause.
From cryotherapy and cold plunges, to powerful LED lights and floatation therapy, the services at Pause Studio used to be exclusive for athletes and elites, but the benefits can be for everybody.
“You’re really turbo-charging your body’s ability to detoxify,” Pause Studio CEO and owner Jonathan Culp said.
Sometimes referred to as “bio-hacking,” Culp says while it sounds wild, the methods are backed by science.
“While it’s a medical service, it’s in a relaxed environment,” he said.
His business offers IV therapy and vitamin infusions, along with contrast therapy, daring you to go from the relaxing infrared sauna to basically an ice bath.
“It’s great for detoxification. It’s great for cardiovascular health. It’s great for inflammation,” Culp said. “And then when you couple that with the cold therapy, it’s basically like a workout on your circulatory system.”
The rooms are set up for individual experiences, but they also have ones made for couples and groups.
“When you can bring community to an aspect, it’s more long lasting,” Culp said.
But the float room is one you want to do alone. Inside, a water-filled orb is filled with about 1,200 pounds of magnesium sulfate.
“Once you lay down in here, your spine is naturally gonna decompress. And it’s one of the few times that you‘ll ever have the experience of weightlessness,” Culp said. “The magnesium is fantastic for your skin.”
Another popular skin treatment is LED light therapy. And Culp says these are on a totally different level than the masks you use at home.
“They’re only about 10 percent of the intensity you get here,” he explained.
And they have different colors for different needs.
“It’s not heat-driven, it’s light-driven,” Culp said. “It allows for cellular generation to improve things like inflammation reduction, to do tissue repair.”
Pause’s owner says they’re planning to open another location in Brickell next year with construction already underway.
