MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Just miles from the city, a different kind of adventure is drawing South Floridians off the pavement and into the mud.

South Florida Off Road Tours in Miami-Dade County’s Redland area is offering guided ATV rides through farmland, giving visitors a chance to trade traffic for trails.

“We do ATV tours, we also have side by sides. We provide a service for people to come and have a good time, get dirty,” said owner Andres Becerra. “Come out with your family, with your friend, celebrate birthdays, whatever you guys are celebrating.”

Before heading out, riders are prepped for the elements.

“We’re going to get really dirty out there, so it’s really important to wear a ski mask,” said Becerra.

Once on the trails, the tours wind through sunflower fields and tomato farms, offering a look at a quieter, rural side of South Florida that many residents rarely see.

But beyond the mud, Becerra said the experience is also about disconnecting.

“We actually prohibit people from taking out phones while they’re riding,” he said.

The tours have become a popular outing for families and groups looking for something different. And for those seeking a more unique experience, the company also offers nighttime rides.

“The night rides are pretty cool. It’s a glow in the dark experience. The whole location glows in the dark. It’s an LED experience,” Becerra said.

“Miami is probably the only place in the world where you do a night ride on an ATV,” he added. “There’s nowhere in the world you can do that.”
