Roaches in the onions, rodent droppings near clean utensils, flies landing on food, and mold buildup inside kitchen equipment!
Those were just some of the conditions inspectors documented while shutting down several South Florida restaurants last week.
Among the establishments ordered closed were Tacology in Brickell, CMX Cinema Brickell Stone Sports Bar, Ocean’s 5 Cafe in Miami Beach, Club De La Milanesa in Midtown Miami, Tacocraft in Plantation, and Ran’s Restaurant in Florida City.
Below is a list of the places and some of their violations.
All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and then a re-inspection.

“Stop Sale issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition. Observed onions inside a plastic container with roaches inside the dry storage. Stop sale was issued."
“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed more than 9 live roaches crawling inside the oven of a stove located at the front cook line area of the kitchen. Clean pots were stored inside the oven. Also observed 1 live roach crawling inside the gaskets of the reach in cooler by the taco area. Reach in cooler has multiple foods stored inside. Also observed 1 live roach inside the other oven if a stove at the cook line. Also observed 1 live roach crawling on the floor of the kitchen are next to the stoves. Also observed 3 live roach inside a plastic bins with onion stored on the dry storage.”
“Live, small flying insects found . Observed approximately 3 live flies in the air around the whole kitchen area by the 3 compartment sink. Also observed approximately 15 plus flies at the dry storage.”
“Pesticide/insecticide labeled for household use only present in establishment. Observed a can of raid stored on preparation table.”
“Accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine/bin.”
“Food-contact surface soiled with food debris, mold-like substance or slime. Observed can opener soiled at pots storage area.”
“Ceiling/ceiling tiles/vents soiled with accumulated food debris, grease, dust, or mold-like substance. Observed AC vents soiled at the walk in cooler.”
“Nonfood-contact surface soiled with grease, food debris, dirt, slime or dust. Observed reach in cooler door gaskets soiled. Also observed a live roach crawling inside the gasket at the taco station. Repeat Violation.”
“Wall soiled with accumulated grease, food debris, and/or dust. Observed at the cook line. Also observed mold like substance behind the dishwasher machine.”
“Stop Sale issued on time/temperature control for safety food due to temperature abuse. Observed cauliflower (47 F - Cold Holding)inside the walk in cooler date marked on 5/10/2026. Food has been out of temperature more than 4 hours.”
“Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Observed watermelon (57 F - Cold Holding) at the front bar. As per employee watermelon was placed around 11:00 AM. Employee added ice to bring temperature down. Also observed cheese (55 F - Cold Holding); beef (47 F - Cold Holding); pollo (47 F - Cold Holding)inside the reach in cooler at the cook line . As per employee foods were placed around 10:30 AM.”
“Dish machine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength. Discontinue use of dish machine for sanitizing and set up manual sanitization until dish machine is repaired and sanitizing properly. Observed sanitizer was 0 ppm. Employee check the hose and sanitizer reached to 100 Ppm.”
“Employee failed to wash hands before putting on gloves to initiate a task working with food. Observed employee failed to wash hand’s before putting on gloves at the taco station.”
