Duo arrested after heist in North Miami Beach

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Police officers reported that a pair of serial thieves’ getaway vehicle was a brown scooter, records show.

Surveillance videos helped police officers identify and arrest Pierre Vatel and Marie Russey on Wednesday, records show.

On Thursday, Miami-Dade County corrections booked Russey, 48, at 5:35 a.m., and Vatel, 32, shortly before 6 a.m., at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Their latest heist was Wednesday night at the Walgreens at 791 NE 167 St., in North Miami Beach, according to a police arrest report. Walgreens estimated they had stolen about $400 in bottles of liquor.

Vatel faced two counts of petit theft and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use. Russey faced two counts of accessory after the fact.
