Ex-Plantation mayor pleads no contest to criminal charges

Former Plantation mayor pleads no contest to criminal charges

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Former Plantation Mayor Lynn Stoner has pleaded no contest to three criminal charges in a public corruption case tied to her time in office.

A Broward County judge withheld adjudication and put Stoner on 12 months of probation.

Prosecutors said Stoner tried to help a developer by issuing a false letter on city letterhead claiming code violations were cleared, and pressuring a city official to approve construction without proper permits.

Stoner served on the Plantation City Council starting in 2011, and was mayor from 2018 until losing her re-election in 2022.

She won’t have a formal conviction on her record if she completes 12 months of probation successfully.
