MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — In Florida, we’re used to spotting alligators, but some of the Everglades’ residents are far more elusive.
Naturalist Alison Jocelyn was riding her bike at the Shark Valley Visitor Center in far western Miami-Dade County earlier this month when she came across an unusual sight: not one, but two groups of playful river otters.
Jocelyn said she was lucky to observe the otters up close as they hunted and stayed alert for predators like alligators and pythons.
