According to BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis, the deputy, who was in an unmarked car, was conducting a routine patrol in the area when he spotted a suspicious 2019 white Mercedes-Benz CLS 550 pull into the rear parking lot of the business.

St. Louis said the deputy approached the car to investigate, at which time the driver, later identified as Johny Dabrezil, got out of the car and fired a single shot at the deputy, missing the deputy and his BSO vehicle.

St. Louis said the deputy got back into his car and chased the suspect into the city of Hollywood, where he lost sight of the vehicle near the 5700 block of Dewey Street.

A perimeter was set up in the area, and Hollywood police later found the Mercedes two blocks away in the rear parking lot of a towing company.

St. Louis said Dabrezil ran away after ditching the car. A juvenile who was a passenger in the vehicle was found, but released by authorities.

Dabrezil faces charges of attempted felony murder, discharge of a weapon into a dwelling/vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and fleeing and eluding.
