Man with autism reported missing from group home in Oakland Park

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit is searching for a 30-year-old man with autism who was reported missing from a group home in Oakland Park.

According to detectives, Demetrius Wiggins was last seen around 7 a.m. Sunday near the 800 block of Northeast 36th Street in Oakland Park.

He is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 300 pounds.

Detectives said Wiggins has black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a multi-colored plaid shirt, black sweatpants and red and white sneakers.

Wiggins is autistic and has mental illnesses that require medication, authorities said.
