DJ Khaled offers full-ride scholarship to university student

The multi-platinum producer also received keys to the city of Miami and Miami Beach

MIAMI – DJ Khaled announced Thursday that he is offering a full-ride scholarship to a university student through his We The Best Foundation.

The four-year scholarship will be awarded to a student looking to attend the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment at Long Island University.

“I’m so proud of the growth of We The Best Foundation,” said Khaled at a news conference in Miami. “We have a team that works year-round, non-stop to inspire and motivate kids to help pick them up if they fall.”

After his announcement, Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber made a proclamation to make Feb. 9, “DJ Khaled Day” in the city of Miami Beach.

Gelber also presented him with another gift at the news conference.

“It is my honor to present DJ Khaled with the keys to the city of Miami Beach,” he said.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez was also in attendance to proclaim Feb. 9 as “We The Best” Day in Miami, and also presented him with a customized set of the keys to the city of Miami.

The multi-platinum artist/producer also revealed that he is opening a shoe store on Collins Avenue so you can add that to “another one” of his accomplishments.
