Grieving family demands justice for 2 murder victims in Davie

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 30-year-old man who detectives accused of fatally shooting a couple at their home in Davie during a domestic violence dispute appeared in Broward County court on Thursday in Fort Lauderdale.

Detectives arrested Luis Rodriguez for the murders of Michele Irias and Lazaro Marrero on Nov. 6, 2022, at the Driftwood Acres Mobile Home Park at 4800 Griffin Rd.

One victim died at the home and the other at the hospital, according to the Davie Police Department.

Kelly Luna Marrero, the victims’ daughter, was in the courtroom when she described her grief.

“It was just painful. I could feel my whole body, just, it was in pain, it was in physical pain,” she said through tears adding, “As much as I’m scared of what’s going to be the outcome, I know that God is the judge in the end. I know that no matter which way it goes there’s going to be justice.”

Luna’s grandmother Sorayda Janania, Irias’s mother, was also in the courtroom and talked to the judge in Spanish.

“We need justice!”
