Police: Miami Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation Center employee sexually batters inmate at kitchen walk-in refrigerator

MIAMI ā€“ A Miami Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation Center employee stands accused of a sexual attack on an inmate who was working in a kitchen, records show.

Johny Jovin appeared in Miami-Dade County court on Monday. A detective arrested him on Saturday at the Miami-Dade Police Departmentā€™s headquarters in Doral, according to an arrest report.

Jovin, 46, a correctional civilian employee, attacked a woman in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centerā€™s kitchen area, according to police.

Jovin ā€œdirectedā€ her to enter a walk-in refrigerator and, once inside, grabbed her by the waist and kissed her on her lips, according to the arrest report.

Police said the victim pushed him away, but he moved closer to her, sliding his hands down her pants and touching her buttocks.

According to the report, the victim eventually walked out of the refrigerator but was followed by Jovin into a second fridge, where he digitally penetrated her against her will.

Police said the victim pushed Jovin away before exiting the fridge.

Jovin is facing a sexual battery by an authority figure charge, records show.

As of Monday afternoon, he was being held at TGK without bond.
