Hialeah man, 66, shoots 18-year-old neighbor during dispute over parking, police say

HIALEAH, Fla. – A 66-year-old Hialeah resident fired his gun after he was enraged over a parking dispute — injuring his 18-year-old neighbor, police said.

On Friday, at Miami-Dade County court, Carolina Carrazana said she heard her brother Humberto Carrazan screaming in pain after he was shot in the chest and arm. He has struggled with pain since.

“I cry at night because of the pain,” Humberto Carrazan said. “It feels like they’re stabbing all day. It’s a lot, a lot of pain.”

Carolina Carrazana said their neighbor, Justo Arrate Rodriguez, kept on shooting even after injuring her brother, striking a car, and threatening to kill everyone.

Yania Dominguez, the shooting victim’s mother, said her son also suffered a collapsed lung.

“He’s doing well. Thank God,” Dominguez said. “He’s talking, he’s alert, he’s walking. Thank God for that.”

Rodriguez’s niece Celia Lambert said there is more to the story. She described the situation as a case of “bullying an old man” who needed to defend himself.

“My uncle is 66 years old and he has never had a criminal record, never heard him say a curse word in my life. Known him for 43 years,” Lambert said.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Lody Jean denied Rodriguez’s bond and ordered him to stay away from the victim.
