POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A 50-year-old man was arrested earlier this week after he shoplifted from a store in Pompano Beach and then tried to pawn the stolen items right after, authorities said.

The incident was reported Tuesday at the West Marine store, located at 850 N. Federal Highway.

According to the suspectā€™s arrest report, Tavoris Rozier, of Coral Springs, grabbed two items from a shelf and then walked around the store for several minutes.

Deputies said he then made his way to the front of the store, away from the cash registers, at which time an assistant manager approached him and told him that he needed to pay for the items before leaving.

According to the report, Rozier lifted the boxes up and then pushed the 67-year-old victim through the front door of the business, causing the victim to tumble backwards.

Deputies said Rozier then ran to a van that was parked around the side of the building and fled the scene.

Another employee, however, was able to take pictures of the vehicle as it left the area.

According to the report, deputies later located the van and followed it to Gold Pawn Cypress, located at 950 NE 62nd St. in Oakland Park, and detained four people in the parking lot.

Deputies said Rozier was inside at the time, completing a transaction with a store clerk.

Rozier was detained by deputies after he exited the pawn shop and the stolen items were recovered, according to the report.

Authorities said Rozier and another man are also linked to a March 13 burglary at Leslieā€™s Pool Supplies, located at 1263 S. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach.

Deputies said in that incident, the duo smashed the glass of the front door and stole two Hayward pool cleaners and a Polaris Maxx pool cleaner.

Authorities said the items were sold that same morning to a pawn shop in Fort Lauderdale.

Another probable cause affidavit states that Rozier and a man named Anthony Irby broke into a B Scuba store in Pompano Beach on March 31 and stole multiple items, including a Brownies diving gear system, wet suits, Scuba scooters and Oceanic watchbands.

They later sold the items to a pawn shop for $700, the affidavit stated.

According to Rozierā€™s arrest report, he is currently on felony probation until Jan. 1, 2026 for a separate case.

Jail records show Rozier faces charges of robbery, abuse of an elderly or disabled adult without great bodily harm, dealing in stolen property, felony probation violation, grand theft, burglary and providing false owner information for pawned items.

As of Thursday afternoon, he remained held at the Broward County Main Jail without bond.
