Shlomo Danzinger files to run for Miami-Dade mayor after losing Surfside reelection

The list of contenders also includes a trapeze artist, 2 actors, an entrepreneur and the Miami Lakes mayor

SURFSIDE, Fla. – Shlomo Danzinger — who recently lost his mayoral reelection in Surfside — filed to run against Miami-Dade Mayor Daniela Levine Cava in November.

Danzinger, 44, a father of five from Brooklyn, New York, has lived in Surfside for over a decade. He was elected the town’s first Orthodox Jewish mayor in 2022.

Records show Danzinger joins a list of five contenders including Manny Cid, the mayor of Miami Lakes; and Eddy L. Rojas, an entrepreneur.

The others are Miguel Quintero, a trapeze artist; and two Cuban-American actors, Carlos Garin, and Alexander Otaola.

While Levine Cava reported raising over $1.08 million for her reelection campaign, Otaola reported raising about $233,850.

Garin reported raising $5,500, and Quintero reported about $5,355. Danzinger and Rojas had nothing to report yet.
