FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A 40-year-old man from Jamaica who lives in South Florida has a history of domestic violence cases in Broward County that goes back to 2009.

On Thursday, Broward prosecutors filed a new domestic violence case against Mickey O’mac Grossett after police officers arrested him on Wednesday in Lauderhill.

Grossett was facing new charges of child abuse, a third-degree felony, and battery causing bodily harm, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Grossett’s arrest record also includes a 2012 drug court case after police officers in Miramar accused him of possession of muscle relaxants, Xanax, and marijuana without a prescription.

After pre-trial intervention, the drug court case was dismissed in 2014. About four years later, a domestic violence court judge ordered Grossett to stay away from a woman he had a child with.

Court records show he stayed out of jail — until this week. Broward County Circuit Judge Susan L. Alspector was presiding over the new domestic violence case. His bond was set at $5,000.
