MIAMI ā A 32-year-old convicted human trafficker on probation appeared in Miami-Dade County court on Wednesday morning to face a long list of new charges.
Alexander Hernandez, who was wearing an orange jumpsuit, stood before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer as she reviewed the list of 22 charges he faced.

āYou were arrested for six cases ... They involve insurance fraud, organize scheme to defraud, and grand theft,ā Glazer told Hernandez during a bond court hearing.
Court records show Circuit Judge Richard Hersch was presiding over the six cases that Miami-Dade prosecutors filed on April 22-23 after a stateās Bureau of Insurance Fraud investigation.
āIt looks like you planned and organized the staged crash,ā Glazer told Hernandez about one of the cases that prosecutors filed after new evidence surfaced earlier this month about the 2022-2023 crashes.
State and county records show that Hernandez, also known as Alexander Marquez Hernandez, was arrested Tuesday and had an active U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.
Inmate records show Hernandez was on probation when Miami-Dade County Sheriffās Office correctional deputies booked him at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Hernandez was convicted of a 2023 human trafficking charge in Miami-Dade and sentenced to a 7-year probation in January.
FDOC and county records show his probation in the human trafficking case involving prostitution in Miami-Dade started on Jan. 6 and was set to end in 2032.
Hernandez faces six counts of filing a false or fraudulent insurance claim, six counts of organized scheme to defraud, six counts of third-degree grand theft, and four counts of insurance fraud by staging an accident.
