In South Miami, a massive tree came down, badly damaging a car caught underneath.

It happened in the area of Southwest 74th Street and 63rd Avenue.

“I was inside and suddenly I heard this whoosh,” said resident Connie Stieger. “This very, very loud noise like a train coming through.”

Stieger said she’s grateful the tree fell away from her home.

“I’m counting my blessings,” she said. “Definitely counting my blessings.”

Stieger says she was shocked by how much power Sunday‘s storms had.

“I never thought it was this tree and when I saw it through my front window, I could not believe it,” she said. “I’ve lived here 40 years and it’s been through hurricanes. I never believed this would happen.”

Part of the tree did land on a different home. The couple that lives there owns the car that was crushed.

They say they won’t know the full extent of the damage to their home until the tree is completely removed.

Miami-Dade County remained under a flood advisory until 6 p.m.

Officials warned that areas prone to flooding should brace for rising waters during the afternoon rain.

Areas throughout South Florida, from Cutler Bay to Boca Raton, experienced extreme rain, and in some areas, hail, on Sunday.
