Armed carjacking, police chase in Miami ends in 3 arrests, police say

MIAMI — Three suspects are in custody following an overnight armed carjacking that led to a crash and foot chase in Miami.

The incident began just before 2 a.m. Sunday when the suspects allegedly carjacked a silver Kia near Southwest 17th Avenue and Fifth Street, according to the Miami Police Department.

Shortly after, police said the vehicle crashed into a wall along Southwest 22nd Avenue.

They said the three suspects ran from the scene, prompting a large police response, including detectives and tactical officers with long guns and an armored vehicle.

Officers conducted an hours-long search of the area before detaining all three individuals.

No injuries were reported in the carjacking or crash.

The damaged Kia remained at the scene Sunday morning as police waited for a tow truck.

Authorities have not released further details about the suspects at this time.
