MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Rolex valued at $45,000 was swiped from an elderly patient at Keralty Hospital Miami last year.
Last week, detectives with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office slapped handcuffs on Yudier Sanchez, 46, for grand theft.
According to an arrest form, he was an employee at the Westchester hospital at the time of the alleged theft last September.
The report states:
“Internal investigation and review of the video footage revealed that the defendant took the victim’s watch and placed it in his pocket.”
According to documents, when the 75-year-old patient checked into the hospital, her watch and jewelry were placed in an envelope.
When she was discharged more than a week later, her daughter discovered the watch was missing.
Sanchez appeared before a judge with the help of an interpreter. He is facing a grand theft charge and a charge of exploiting the elderly.
The report stated that Sanchez denied taking the watch. He has entered a plea of not guilty.
The watch has not been returned and there is no word on where it is.
Sanchez has since bonded out of jail.
