Hospital employee arrested after elderly patient’s $45K Rolex goes missing

Elderly woman robbed of expensive watch while being treated at Miami-Dade hospital

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Rolex valued at $45,000 dollars was swiped from an elderly patient at Keralty Hospital last year.

Last week, detectives with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office slapped handcuffs on Yudier Sanchez for grand theft.

According to an arrest form, he was a hospital employee at the time of the theft.

The report states:

“Internal investigation and review of the video footage revealed that the defendant took the victims watch and place it in his pocket.”

According to documents, when the 75-year-old patient checked into the hospital, her watch and jewelry were placed in an envelope.

When she was discharged more than a week later, her daughter discovered the watch was missing.

Sanchez appeared before a judge with the help of an interpreter. He is facing a grand theft charge and a charge of exploiting the elderly.

The report said that Sanchez denied taking the watch. He has entered a plea of not guilty.

The watch has not been returned and there is no word on where it is.

Sanchez has since bonded out of jail.
