Prayer vigil held for Charlie Kirk in Fort Lauderdale

Vigil held for Charlie Kirk in Fort Lauderdale at Esplanade Park

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — An emotional crowd gathered at Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale Friday night, holding a vigil following the shooting death of Charlie Kirk.

The group was not only praying for Kirk’s family, but for our country as political violence escalates.

They lit candles and prayed together as they continue to process Kirk’s assassination.

Fort Lauderdale police had a heavy security presence around the vigil, which started with a moment of silence as a local pastor led a group prayer for Kirk’s loved ones.

And then, an emotional rendition of Amazing Grace.

Brianna Reeves, President of Broward Young Republicans said Kirk was instrumental in driving the youth to get involved in politics.

“He was a friend to us,” said Reeves. “And he had such a special gift of igniting I think a passion amongst the youth.”
