Detective’s investigation ‘remains open and active’

LAUDERHILL, Fla. — A woman died at the hospital after a car struck her on Friday night near the John E. Mullin Park in Lauderhill, police announced in a statement on Saturday.

Police officers responded shortly after 9:10 p.m. and met with the driver along Northwest 55 Avenue, near 21 Street, according to police.

Fire rescue personnel also responded and took the woman injured to Broward Health Medical Center, where she later died, according to police.

Sgt. Parys Thomas, a spokesman for the Lauderhill Police Department, announced on Saturday that the investigation into the cause of the crash “remains open and active.”
