HOMESTEAD, Fla. — A chase involving Homeland Security Investigations agents led to a crash in Homestead on Sunday, with a driver slamming into a tree and damaging a traffic control box.

Video from the scene shows the damage to the car after it hit a fence, a tree, and the control box. Police said HSI agents were in the middle of an investigation and tried to pull the car over, which led to the chase and ultimately the crash.

The impact also damaged a man’s work truck. Ernesto Guerrero, whose vehicle was hit, said he’s frustrated because the cars used by HSI were unmarked.

“These types of issues could be prevented if they took different steps, more professional steps rather than just chasing people around the public, which creates casualties,” Guerrero said. “You have property damage to the fence, the car, the person in the vehicle. There’s just a lot of people at risk and for what?”

Authorities have not said if anyone was injured. We’re working to learn more about the HSI investigation.
