FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — Three juveniles were taken into custody after the driver of a stolen vehicle led police on a chase through Florida City late Tuesday night, authorities confirmed.
Florida City police said the incident began with a vehicle burglary call in the 1100 block of Northwest Second Street.
Upon arrival, officers said they saw a car fleeing the area and tried to conduct a stop.
They said the driver attempted to ram a police vehicle while fleeing.
Officers pursued the vehicle northbound on Florida’s Turnpike before it exited on Caribbean Boulevard, then continued south until it stopped just north of Southwest 328th Street and U.S 1., according to investigators.
The occupants bailed out and ran, but with the help of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Homestead Police Department, authorities confirmed that all three juveniles were apprehended.
Police said the car had been reported stolen.
The three suspects were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, but police have not released their ages, genders or identities at this time.
