HOMESTEAD, Fla. — A Homestead man was arrested on 160 felony charges on Wednesday. Authorities said each count represents a video he uploaded depicting the rape and sexual abuse of young children.
Homestead police said their investigation into Anjel Lopez Gomez, 19, began after the Broward Sheriff’s Office forwarded a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
An arrest report states that Google had tipped off NCMEC that Lopez Gomez had uploaded the videos to its platform, which showed boys and girls as young as babies being victimized.
Authorities said they took Lopez Gomez into custody at his home on Northwest Third Avenue.
The report states that Lopez Gomez “knew the reason he was in custody” and made admissions, which were redacted.
As of Thursday, Lopez Gomez was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond.
