DAVIE, Fla. — Nova Southeastern University is rolling out nearly 20 autonomous food delivery robots in a first-of-its-kind partnership with Grubhub and Starship Technologies.
Students and staff can order meals through the Grubhub app, then track the robot as it navigates campus using GPS, radar, and 12 cameras. Once it arrives, users unlock it with their phone.
“It’s quick and easy,” said student Allie Palanuk, who uses the service while studying.
The delivery fee is $3.49—with no extra charges. NSU says the program didn’t eliminate jobs but instead created more positions in food prep, quality assurance, and customer service.
“It’s amazing how fast they became part of campus culture,” said Mike Alkurdi with Shark Dining.
