Deputies investigating shooting in Tamarac that left woman injured

Large police presence observed in residential neighborhood where shooting victim was found

Woman injured in Tamarac shooting, investigation ongoing

TAMARAC, Fla. — Police in Broward County are investigating a shooting.

It happened at approximately 5:27 p.m. in the area of the 8200 block of 74th Terrace in Tamarac.

According to authorities, deputies responded to a reported shooting and upon arrival, found a woman who had been shot.

First responders rushed the woman to a nearby hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening, according to deputies.

In the hours since, a large police presence has remained at the scene.

Neighbors told Local 10 News’ Brett Knese that the man who opened fire then barricaded himself inside a home, where he has remained since.

Deputies have utilized a drone, sirens and a loudspeaker, commanding the man to come out of the home, but nothing had worked as of 10 p.m.

Authorities have only confirmed that an investigation is being conducted by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit.
