HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A driver was killed early Tuesday morning in Hollywood when his car crashed and caught fire, authorities said.
The single-vehicle accident happened just before 3 a.m. on northbound State Road 7, just south of Mayo Street, according to Hollywood Fire Rescue.
Authorities said they arrived at the scene to find the car fully engulfed in flames and quickly extinguished the fire.
They said the male driver, whose identity was not immediately released, had been ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Local 10 News crew saw Hollywood police investigating the scene while Florida Power & Light was called to assess damage to a utility pole struck in the crash.
The pole sustained heavy damage in the crash, leaving rebar exposed.
No other details were immediately released.
