Video shows woman slapping senior over Eataly table, authorities say

AVENTURA, Fla. — Newly-released video shows what authorities said was a Miami woman who slapped a senior over a table and chairs at Aventura Mall’s Eataly restaurant on Aug. 10.

It led to the arrest of Lelia Trinchero, 44, of Coconut Grove, on a charge of battery on a person 65 or older.

According to an arrest report, she told officers that she “sat at a table to eat food and wait for her husband and son,” which she said was empty, when a woman “approached her and told her that her family was sitting at that table.”

This set off a dispute over whether the table was indeed occupied before Trinchero sat down, police said. According to the report, Trinchero began yelling at the woman as she took chairs from the table.

Police said when the woman took the last chair, Trinchero slapped her across the arm “and they began to struggle over the chair.”

Authorities said Trinchero slapped Hanania Levy, 72, in the face after he intervened and tried to break up the fight.

He spoke to Local 10 News after Trinchero’s arrest.

Court records show that Trinchero was offered and accepted a pre-trial diversion program in early September.
