MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — The family of two people killed in a crash Friday in Miami-Dade County’s South Miami Heights neighborhood identified the victims as Adam Bravo and his son, Nathan Bravo.
The father and son were heading home from getting a haircut when the crash occurred at Southwest 117 Avenue and Quail Roost Road, family members told Local 10 News.
The Bravo family released a statement to Local 10 News on Saturday, which you can read here:
"Our hearts are completely shattered. Both Adam and Nathan were the life of every family gathering. They shared the same passions, and Nathan looked up to Adam as his hero.
Just four months ago, Nathan survived a terrible bike accident that caused an epidural hemorrhage with a midline shift. He was airlifted to Kendall Regional Hospital, where doctors worked tirelessly to save his life. By God’s grace, he pulled through, and we called him our miracle boy.
To now face this devastation is beyond anything we can put into words. One thing we do know is that Adam and Nathan could never be apart, and now they are together in Heaven.
We ask, above all, for your prayers, for strength, comfort, and guidance during this unimaginable time. If you don’t already know God, I pray you begin a relationship with Him. His sovereign love and peace are the only way we will make it through this.
You hear stories like this on the news and never imagine they will hit your own home, until they do. Please, hold your family a little tighter tonight, because tomorrow is never promised."
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Adam Bravo, who was driving a black Lexus sedan, died at the scene.
FHP officials said Nathan was airlifted by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where he later died.
They said both were traveling in the Lexus at the time of the crash.
Authorities confirmed that none of the four occupants of a gray GMC SUV involved in the crash were injured.
They also said the GMC sustained rear-end damage, and the Lexus ended up facing the opposite direction.
The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office assisted FHP, the lead investigating agency. Authorities also confirmed that the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.
Quail Roost Drive, also known as State Road 994, was temporarily closed and reopened around 11 p.m. FHP Lt. Alex Camacho said the investigation remains active at this time.
Adam Bravo’s sister, Angela Rodriguez, organized a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs and living expenses. Click here if you would like to contribute.
