The brothers followed the shouts of a desperate woman when they ran and saw a little boy floating in a pond at the Villas on The Green community.

Alexander and Jonathan Castelo jumped in the water. Amy Castelo called 911. They performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the boy.

“A lot of vomit, a lot of fluid started coming out of his mouth, but he was completely unresponsive,” Alexander Castelo said on Monday.

Margate Fire Rescue personnel arrived to help the boy on Sunday at 3151 Holiday Springs Boulevard. The Castelo siblings believe God had them there in the right place at the right time.

“The way we were raised just as a religious family,” Jonathan Castelo said about why they didn’t hesitate to rush to the rescue.

Margate Fire Rescue personnel reported the incident as a near-drowning and took the boy to the Coral Springs Medical Center.
