HOMESTEAD, Fla. — A man was arrested overnight after he allegedly stole an ambulance outside the emergency entrance of Homestead Hospital, authorities said.
According to Hialeah police Officer Oscar Roque, an officer was working an off-duty detail at the hospital when the MCT Express ambulance was stolen from the emergency entrance.
Roque told Local 10 News in an email Tuesday morning that the officer immediately began pursuing the stolen vehicle with assistance from other Homestead police officers.
The stolen ambulance was ultimately stopped in the 2500 block of Northeast Eighth Street, Roque confirmed.
He said the suspect was taken into custody and transported back to the hospital for medical clearance.
Once the suspect is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, Roque said.
Roque declined to immediately release the suspect’s name as the suspect “is still under medical care.”
“Additional information will be forth coming,” he said.
