MEDLEY, Fla. — Four men wielding baseball bats walked into a Medley warehouse and began brutally beating a senior working there, police say. Now, detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding the violent quartet.
Medley police held a news conference on Friday after releasing pictures of the attackers.
The incident happened at a shipping warehouse at 8333 NW 68th St. on the afternoon of Sept. 24.
Police said the masked men walked into the business, which ships goods to the Dominican Republic, and began beating the 70-year-old worker with the bats.
The victim tried to raise his arms to protect himself after the attackers pushed him to the ground. The senior told investigators that the men were speaking Spanish, possibly with a Dominican accent, during the attack.
The group fled in a white Nissan Altima “with black rims, dark tinted windows, (a) sunroof, black door handles, (a) black front grill, and (a) black gas cap,” police said in a news release.
The senior, who sustained broken arms and multiple lacerations, “has a long road to recovery,” Officer Deglys Chavarria, a Medley Police Department spokesperson, said. He was taken to Jackson West Medical Center in Doral.
Police said he remained at Jackson West in serious condition as of Friday.
Investigators said they were still trying to figure out a motive as of Friday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Medley police at 305-883-2047 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
