POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A dog was shot Sunday morning near the 100 block of Northeast 17th Court, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene just before 9 a.m. and found a wounded pit bull.

The dog was taken to Deer Run Animal Hospital for treatment. Officials said the pit bull has two puppies, which are being cared for.

BSO’s Special Victims Unit is investigating the incident.
