KENDALE LAKES, Fla. — A man was arrested Monday after authorities said he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, stole her phone and forcibly took her to his home during a violent confrontation in Kendale Lakes.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Jonathan Andrew Pulles, 37, picked up his ex-girlfriend around 7:15 p.m. Sunday in his black Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck near Southwest 132nd Avenue and Southwest 72nd Street.
Pulles and the victim, who previously lived together as a family, had agreed to meet to discuss “personal matters,” the report stated.
Investigators said Pulles became angry during the drive and grabbed the victim’s Apple iPhone 15, valued at about $1,000, from her hands.
They said he then demanded that she give him her phone’s PIN number, which she refused.
The report states that Pulles stopped the truck near Southwest 132nd Avenue and 82nd Street, where he allegedly punched the victim in the face, cutting her upper lip.
Deputies said he then exited the truck and intended to throw her phone into a nearby lake.
When the victim followed him to stop him, they said Pulles pushed her to the ground, causing scrapes to her knees.
He then forced her back into his truck, where a struggle ensued, according to the report.
During the altercation, deputies said he allegedly pulled her hair and pushed her face against the dashboard before driving to his home on Southwest 133rd Place.
Once there, investigators said Pulles bear-hugged the woman and carried her toward his front door against her will, despite her saying she didn’t want to go inside.
The report stated that the victim feared being beaten either outside or inside the home.
The woman later managed to leave the home, where she was found by family members and responding deputies from MDSO’s Hammocks District.
Deputies said she was then taken to Baptist Health West Kendall Hospital for medical treatment.
A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued for Pulles’ truck, and deputies said they located it early Monday morning in the area of Southwest 136th Avenue.
Surveillance was set up, and Pulles was taken into custody just before 11 a.m., according to authorities.
He was transported to MDSO headquarters for questioning, where he provided deputies with a statement after being read his Miranda rights, the report stated.
Jail records show Pulles is facing one count each of strongarm robbery, kidnapping and battery.
Pulles’ publicly-released arrest report did not specify what personal matters he and the victim had planned to discuss before the argument escalated.
As of Tuesday morning, he was being held on a $3,501 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
